Staff from DistGen recently visited the production facility in Gran Canaria to meet the sales team from World Wide Wind Turbines and key service personnel from ACSA.

ACSA owns and operates over 50 of its own A27 turbines (based on the V27 made under license from Vestas) in various locations around the Canary Islands. Impressively they boast a worst-case availability exceeding 95% over the entire install base dating back well over a decade, with the majority at or above 98%. With an average annual windspeed of 12m/s this demonstrates why the original V27 as designed by Vestas is such a reliable work-horse.

The original V27 bought by ACSA and erected in front of the their facility has been running for 18 years with no major failures. It is now used as an operational test-bed for proving new parts suppliers and incremental design modifications.

DistGen would like to thank the staff at WWWT and ACSA for arranging the visit and for being such excellent hosts.
